Salt of the Earth: Fifth Sunday of Epiphany

Blessed Epiphany, friends!

I'm looking forward to sharing with you a weekly Epiphany Daybook devotional post for these weeks of revelation and witness.

You can read here for a brief description of the liturgical season of Epiphany.

Look: Salt of the Earth, Steve Prince - Source

Last year, during Black History Month, the Anglican diocese of Churches For the Sake of Others, licensed four of artist Steve A. Prince’s social justice artworks to feature. Head to this link to read Prince’s statement about this image. You’ll also find questions and prompts for you to do Visio Divina, or “sacred seeing,” an ancient form of Christian prayer in which we allow our hearts and imaginations to enter into the image to see what God might have to say to us.

Pray: Book of Common Prayer, Collect for the Fifth Sunday After Epiphany

O Lord, our heavenly Father, keep your household the Church continually in your true religion, that we who trust in the hope of your heavenly grace may always be defended by your mighty power; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Do: This week walk through the neighborhood where you live, work, or worship. Pray the collect for this week (above), and ask God to open your eyes to the people and places He's asking you to proclaim the Good News of the liberty and abundance Christ offers any who will follow Him. Ask a friend to pray for you to answer readily to what the Spirit reveals to you during your prayer.
